Se spesso l’incuria verso il patrimonio naturale cela propositi di lucro, accade, in altri casi che la difficoltà a riconoscere la natura come un valore collettivo da salvaguardare, la distrazione e la negligenza, unite a una limitata cognizione degli elementi del sistema naturale e del loro significato ambientale, possono spesso essere all’origine di comportamenti capaci di provocare danni insanabili al patrimonio ambientale.

Thesaurus Italiano di Scienze della Terra

 

La biblioteca APAT mette per la prima volta a disposizione della comunità scientifica di settore il ThIST (Thesaurus Italiano di Scienze della Terra) in versione bilingue, italiana e inglese. Esso è il risultato di una pressoché totale revisione del thesaurus nato dall’integrazione tra la banca dati terminologica dell’allora Biblioteca del Servizio geologico d’Italia (oggi Biblioteca APAT) e il thesaurus pubblicato dal CNR nel 1997. E’ strettamente connesso al Multilingual Thesaurus of Geosciences (MTG), curato dal Gruppo di lavoro internazionale MTG, all’interno del quale l’Italia è rappresentata dall’APAT. Viene già utilizzato per l’indicizzazione del materiale biblio-cartografico (monografie, articoli di periodici, carte) posseduto dalla Biblioteca e il recupero delle informazioni relative.
